Big life transitions are happening this summer! After nearly a year of devoting full focus on building up my gender doula practice, I’ve recently accepted a job as a full-time hospice chaplain. This shift is bittersweet as I love working with my gender doula clients so much! I’ll be posting a blog post through my newsletter and website soon about why I’m making this job transition, so keep an eye out for that if you want to learn about my process. For now, know that this move feels very aligned and grounded in my spiritual and political commitments, and that healing justice for people of all genders will still permeate all that I do. Thank you for supporting me and engaging with my work these past many months. It means a tremendous amount to me <3
What does this mean for existing clients?
1) My online calendar is still open through July 20th for all existing clients, meaning anyone I have ever had a session with. If you would like to schedule a session between now and then, please do so!
2) After my new job starts, I will continue to see existing clients on a limited basis. To start, I will have one weekend day each month available for 4 sessions, though this may increase in the future. Booking for these sessions will occur exclusively via email on a first come first serve basis. The first openings will be in August, stay tuned for that announcement soon.
3) My fees will remain on the same sliding scale, but all of proceeds will be redistributed each month: 50% to Queer the Land, a collaborative BIPOC land justice project on Duwamish land (also known as Seattle), and 50% to rapid response funds.
What does this mean for potential new clients?
My practice is currently closed to new clients. If you are interested in working with me, please feel free to email me at genderdoula@gmail.com and I can add you to a waitlist as openings become available.
What else does this mean?
In the coming weeks my Instagram will become inactive, meaning I will no longer be adding new content. However, it will remain public so that folks can continue to learn from and share the insights and resources I’ve already posted. My website will also continue to be live for the foreseeable future. Going forward, I would still love to collaborate with people on one-time or short-term projects, so please do reach out if you want to invite me to do a workshop, panel, group, etc!
I know this is all happening quite quickly, as things so often do under racial capitalism, and I welcome any questions you have about this transition. Serving trans, nonbinary, and questioning folks as a gender doula has been some of the most meaningful work of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Sending each of you summer sweetness and ease.
Warmly,
Kamryn
