How to Book
My gender doula practice is currently closed. I am not taking on new clients.
~ ~ ~
New and prospective clients are encouraged to schedule a free twenty minute consultation. It’s a great opportunity for us to meet one another and feel for whether or not we’re a good fit. In the consultation I’ll share a bit about my practice and what shape our work together might take, and also answer any questions you might have.
A credit card is required to book sessions online, though you have the option to either pay at the time of booking or on the day of the appointment. Sessions are sliding scale $50-125, however the default price through online booking is listed as $125. Use the following coupon codes to pay lower on the sliding scale.
SLIDINGSCALE50 = $50 per session
SLIDINGSCALE60 = $60 per session
SLIDINGSCALE75 = $75 per session
SLIDINGSCALE90 = $90 per session
SLIGINGSCALE100 = $100 per session
If you need to cancel a session, I ask for notice 24 hours in advance. Clients who cancel less than 24 hours in advance will be charged a flat cancellation fee of $30, which must be paid before booking another session.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email me at genderdoula@gmail.com. I aim to respond to all inquiries within four days. If you don’t hear back within that time frame, I encourage you to reach back out.
Sliding Scale Fees
I am committed to racial and economic justice, and accessibility is an essential component of justice work. One way I make my services as accessible as possible is by offering a sliding scale fee structure. Sessions range from $50-125. Those who are able to pay more make it possible for those with fewer financial resources to still have access to my services, while also enabling me to make a living wage as a spiritual care provider. Payments are due on the day of the session, and are accepted through Venmo and PayPal.
Clients self-determine where they belong on the scale. The following list of examples can help guide you. You may select a pay tier even if every example in that category doesn’t apply to you. Ultimately I trust you to know the nuanced specifics of your financial situation and what you can reasonably pay for my services.
Consider paying on the higher end of the scale ($90-125) if some or all of this applies to you:
- easily meet all of you basic living needs
- own the home you live in
- own property that you don’t live in (such as vacation homes, rental properties, or commercial properties)
- have investments, retirement accounts, or inherited money
- travel recreationally, and/or can afford to take time off work
- have access to family money and resources in times of need
- are employed and earn more than 85K annually, work part time by choice, or do not work by choice
- have a relatively high degree of earning power due to level of education, gender, racial privilege, class background, body type, etc.
- have regular access to quality health care
- own or lease a car
Consider paying at the middle of the scale ($60-90) if some or all of this applies to you:
- are able to meet your basic needs
- are employed and make $40-85K a year
- often have some expendable income
- are able to buy some new items, and thrift others
- have access to financial savings
- struggle to pay more than minimums on debt
- help your family (biological or chosen) financially
- your family has limited assets
Consider paying at the bottom of the scale ($50-60) if some or all of this applies to you:
- frequently stress about meeting basic needs and don’t always achieve them
- have unstable housing
- do not have a car and/or are not always able to afford gas
- are employed and make less than $40K a year
- are unemployed
- are supporting children or have other dependents
- have significant debt
- have medical expenses not covered by insurance
- qualify for government assistance including food stamps and healthcare
- have immigration-related expenses
- have no access to savings
- your family does not have assets
- can not afford a vacation or to take time off without financial burden
- are an elder with limited financial support
- have been denied work due to incarceration history
- your race, ethnicity, skin color, gender, body type, etc. negatively impacts your income
If you have questions about the sliding scale, I am always available and eager to discuss! The norm around money and class is to not talk about it, especially not in spiritual spaces where money is often viewed as profane, dirty, or irrelevant. I believe this norm can lead to profound social isolation, shame, and even abuse — I know I’ve been there! With my clients I want to disrupt this norm and communicate transparently towards the aim of providing accessible spiritual care.
My fee scale was determined through a calculation of how much is enough for me to meet my living needs, and not by the drive for profit or keeping up with the status quo of standard market rates of others doing similar work. This method of determining pricing was learned from a fantastic workshop taught by business coach Bear Herbert titled “Freely: An Anti-Capitalist Guide to Pricing Your Work.” (It’s available online, highlight recommend you check it out!) My sliding scale examples are sourced heavily from Hadassah Damien’s wonderful compendium of sliding scale resources.
